On June 14, 2006 Solar Thin Films Inc. ("STF" or "Company") acquired 95.5% of the outstanding securities of Kraft Electronics Inc. ("Kraft"), through which it now conducts manufacturing operations. On August 3, 2007 STF acquired the remaining 4.5% of the outstanding securities of Kraft, which became its wholly owned subsidiary.
STF is now an equipment design and manufacturing company headquartered in New York (USA) with manufacturing based in Budapest, Hungary (Europe). Kraft Electronics had historically been engaged in the design, development and manufacturing of vacuum based production and quality control equipment used in several hi-tech industries. Over its ten years existence, Kraft developed and manufactured a line of equipment serving the semiconductor industry, glass coating technologies and, more recently, the photovoltaic industry. In 1996, Kraft was contracted by a single customer to develop thin-film photovoltaic deposition equipment for production of amorphous silicon based thin-film modules, as well as complete turnkey facilities and subsequently chose to focus exclusively on the photovoltaic industry. Since 2005 Kraft has marketed and produced systems for a variety of customers, offering both components and through technology partners turnkey systems. | |
