Solar Thin Films, Inc. (STF) has signed a strategic cooperative R&D agreement with Renewable Energy Solutions, Inc (RESI) from New Jersey.

Under the contract RESI performs specified research and development (R&D) activities on behalf of STF for a fee, while STF retains exclusive rights to provide certain pieces of equipment resulting from these R&D activities. Current R&D activities are focused on:

• Design and development of specialized manufacturing equipment required to produce CIGS based thin-film PV devices – the next generation of PV.

Future cooperation between the two companies may include:

• Design and development of certain automated manufacturing equipment to support the production of both a-Si and CIGS thin-film PV modules on larger glass substrates.
• Improvements to specific components in the production of both a-Si and CIGS manufacturing equipment that may lead to higher efficiency or throughput.
